Seed Grants and Awards

OMI supports faculty engagement through Community-Based seed grant funding.

Discretionary Engagement Grants

The Office of Metropolitan Impact (OMI) is currently distributing 2019-2020 Discretionary Engagement Funds and invites rolling applications from all faculty interested in obtaining funds to support and/or augment unique and/or innovative engagement activities.  Through this grant opportunity, OMI seeks to support a wide array of activities and projects that promote community engagement strategies. Tenure track, non-tenure track, clinical, research, and library faculty, as well as staff of the University of Michigan-Dearborn are eligible to submit applications on an as needed basis. Discretionary Community Engagement Funds may be any amount ranging from $50 to $500 and may not exceed 50% of your budget. Faculty may only be awarded discretionary funds once per semester.

Community-Based Research (C-BR) Seed Grants

The purpose of the Community-Based Research Seed Grants (CBR) is to support community-based research projects that engage in, promote knowledge about, identify best practices for, and enhance understanding by deepening or broadening our understanding of the needs of University of Michigan-Dearborn’s larger community, as well as to promote research that is developed in collaboration with community partner organizations and/or their clients.

Community-Based Projects (C-BP)

The purpose of Community-Based Projects Seed Grants (C-BP) is to promote engagement and learning environments that are developed in collaboration with community partner organizations and/or their clients. Community partners may include business, industry, non-profit, government, etc. These funds are meant to support projects that meet student learning outcomes as well as community need, but do not fit into the traditional structure of research or coursework.
