Grounds & Fleet
The University of Michigan-Dearborn Grounds Crew oversees the upkeep of the campus’ roads, pavement, and natural spaces. The landscaping responsibilities of our experienced groundskeepers include turf and irrigation maintenance, tree and shrub management, ornamental plantings, and animal control. Their grounds duties involve the maintenance of campus parking lots, roads, and sidewalks, as well as assisting with waste management and event support. Grounds operations are performed year-round, with the inclusion of snow shoveling, ice maintenance, salt, and weather monitoring during the winter months.
The Fleet Crew repairs and maintains all university owned vehicles and equipment. Our master vehicle mechanic performs annual preventative maintenance inspections which include, but are not limited to, oil and filter changes, tune ups, and tire and break inspections. The mechanic also makes emergency repair requests to all campus vehicles to ensure they are available for daily use.
Parking Lot, Sidewalks, & Campus Road Closures
At times, in order to keep our outside areas safe, we may need to close parking lots, sections of sidewalks, or roads. Please visit the Campus Maintenance & Construction page for details on any closures that could impact how you get around campus.
