M.S. in Healthcare Administration and Leadership

The Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Leadership prepares students with the skills needed for a career in healthcare leadership.

The Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Leadership is designed for current and future health care leaders. Graduates of the program are ready to pursue careers in hospitals, group physician practices, clinics, mental health organizations, rehabilitation centers, educational organizations and health insurance and government organizations. Our 36-credit curriculum focuses on helping you develop the necessary skills to advance your career.

This is a fall only admit program.  Since this is the first year of the program the deadline for the Fall 2024 cohort is August 1, 2024.  The normal application deadline will be March 15 starting with the Fall 2025 cohort.

What will I learn?

The overall goals of the program are to prepare students to:

  • Apply a range of individual and team leadership theories and skills that can be utilized to benefit others and their organizations.
  • Develop interventions and apply tools to increase health equity and reduce causal factors.
  • Apply basic financial, accounting, marketing, business strategies, data analysis, operations management, and productivity in managing the business of healthcare.
  • Understand systems of change and apply frameworks for leading systems of change using analytic strategies and tools to assess effective and ineffective approaches in health care.

Admission Requirements

Students must submit the follow items with their application. The GRE is not required for admission to this program. The Office of International Affairs lists additional admission requirements for international students.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • 3.0 GPA or higher on submitted transcripts
  • Two professional letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement

Completion Requirements

Before exiting from the M.S. in Healthcare Administration and Leadership, you need to complete two steps:

  1. Apply for graduation.
  2. Submit an Exit Survey.

Exit Survey:

The purpose of this survey is to assist the College of Education, Health, and Human Services with the evaluation of the master’s degree program and to serve as a guide for program development. The Exit Survey is a requirement for completion of the program. Submit the exit survey.
