The Alumni Legacy Scholarship Program perpetuates the legacy of the University of Michigan-Dearborn tradition by providing scholarships to academically talented students with familial or significant relationships to UM-Dearborn graduates. This scholarship program was established by the University of Michigan-Dearborn Alumni Society in 1997.
Open to Detroit high school graduates who have demonstrated leadership and community service as well as financial need. Preference given to Wade McCree and Detroit Promise students. Requires letters of recommendation. One to three scholarships are awarded annually. This is a one time award.
Among all three U-M campuses, the Center for the Education of Women awards scholarships to support primary caregivers or have had significant consecutive interruption in education since high school or are actively actively engaged in eligible program(s) working toward a STEM degree. Since 2008, CEW has been able to expand the program to include scholarships for students of all genders.
At least two City Year Alumni Scholarships will be awarded to students who successfully complete the City Year Detroit experience. The scholarship awards up to $5,350 and is matched with AmeriCorps funds. The award is for up to two years (four semesters). Students must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Recipients are expected to enroll full-time (less than full-time enrollment awards will be prorated). Submit City Year documentation to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions (1145 James C. Renick University Center).
The College of Engineering and Computer Science provides many scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and transfer students entering an eligible major in CECS. Students are considered automatically for awards through the admission process.
The Community Service Personnel Scholarship provides a scholarship valued at 20% of tuition and fees for public safety employees at partnering organizations. The scholarship is available for degree seeking students and can be used for undergraduate and graduate programs.
The Detroit Promise Scholarship awards renewable full-tuition scholarships to qualified students who graduate from Detroit high schools (four years of attendance in Detroit high school(s). Students are required to have a grade point of 3.0 by February 1st of their senior year. Additional details are available at Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Michigan Nonprofit Association Scholarship provides a scholarship valued at 20% of tuition and fees for employees of Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) member organizations. This scholarship is available for degree seeking students and can be used for undergraduate and graduate programs.
The National Science Foundation STEM Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship for students majoring in certain areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The objective of the program is to adapt high impact practices that have been proven to increase retention and graduation rates for high-achieving, first generation, and commuter students who typically have responsibilities outside of school.
This award is a renewable scholarship worth up to $10,000 per year ($40,000 over 4 years) for our non-residential students.
Requirements:
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- GPA of 3.5 (4.0 scale)
- Full-time degree-seeking enrollment at University of Michigan-Dearborn
- Renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 at UM-Dearborn
The Retired Persons Studies Program (RPSP) provides 25% in-state tuition support for students who are 60 years of age and older and seek intellectual engagement and stimulation through the university's Non-Candidate for Degree Program.
The Tuition Differential Scholarship awards a renewable scholarship for the difference between residential and non-residential tuition. An eligible student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Freshmen must have a grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
Provide awards of $500-$2,000 to high school students living in the Greater Northville or Downriver areas. These are one-time scholarships.
The University of Michigan-Dearborn Employee Scholarship provides scholarship support of 25% of assessed tuition and fees that benefit the staff and faculty of the entire University of Michigan System (Ann Arbor, Flint, Dearborn, and the Health System) who attend the University of Michigan-Dearborn as a degree seeking undergraduate or graduate student.
UM System Dependent Tuition Scholarship provides scholarship support for tuition and fees to the IRS-dependent children, spouses, other qualified adults (OQA) and IRS-dependent of OQA of regular part-time and full-time staff and faculty (50% appointment or higher). The eligible dependents of UM-Dearborn faculty and staff receive 50% the tuition and fees, eligible dependents of UM-Flint, UM-Ann Arbor, and the UM Health System receive 20% of tuition and fees. The tuition scholarship is restricted to first time undergraduate study.
