Alumni Legacy Scholarship

Two paths for financial support

In 1997, the University of Michigan-Dearborn Alumni Society established the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.  The scholarship is appropriately named, as it will perpetuate the legacy of the University of Michigan-Dearborn tradition by providing scholarships to academically talented students with familial or other significant relationships to UM-Dearborn graduates (i.e. child, sibling, grandchild, spouse, stepchild, niece, nephew or cousin).

Since the 1998/99 academic year, the Alumni Legacy Scholarship has been able to assist in the funding of countless UM-Dearborn undergraduate student educations. For the 2026-27 academic year, there are two paths for the scholarship.

PATH ONE: For Incoming (High School) Students

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship for incoming high school students only is now being managed by the Dearborn Alumni Legacy Foundation.

Questions? For additional information about the process, please contact Michael Santicchia, '82 BBA, and he will be able to assist you with your interest in the scholarship for incoming high school students.

PATH TWO: For Current UM-Dearborn Undergraduate Students

The UM-Dearborn Alumni Legacy Scholarship is now available for current undergraduate students. Current students may now apply for this opportunity through the UM-Dearborn Scholarship Universe.

  • How to Apply: Log in with your U-M unique name and password.
  • Timeline: Applications typically open in February and close in April. The 2026-27 UM-Dearborn Alumni Legacy Scholarship application process deadline for current undergraduate students is April 30, 2026.
  • Requirements: Full details on eligibility and required documentation are listed within the portal.
