High School Dual Enrollment
Get a head start on your bachelor’s degree – and enrich your high school education with challenging college-level coursework.
Dual enrollment at UM-Dearborn is an affordable way for high-achieving students to earn college credit while completing graduation requirements at their high school. As an added benefit, you’ll have access to our campus library, recreational facilities, cultural activities and athletic events.
Admissions Criteria for Dual Enrollment Students
To apply for dual enrollment, you must meet the following criteria:

Additionally, students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 in their UM-Dearborn coursework to register for a future semester.
How to Apply
- Complete the Non-Degree Application online; once you are logged into your account, select “Dual Enrollment.”
- Download and complete the Course Permission and Calculation Worksheet (PDF).
- After you complete the student portion, your high school counselor will complete the rest and email the form to [email protected].
- Request your transcripts (and test scores, if applicable); these will be sent directly from your high school.
- Submit your personal statement (for high school sophomores and freshmen only).
Admissions Deadlines
Your application deadline depends on the term in which you’d like to start:
- Summer I - April 28
- Summer II - June 23
- Fall - August 15
- Winter - December 15
Dual Enrollment Tuition Information
As a dual enrollment student, you will receive a 50% tuition discount for your first 8 credits. Check with your high school counselor about additional opportunities for support.
Additional Steps for Admitted Students
If you are admitted as a dual enrollment student, you’ll complete a few additional steps before taking your first class, such as setting up your Wolverine ID. Go to the Admitted Non-Degree Students Page.

Priority Consideration for a Michigan Degree
As you make plans for after high school, we strongly encourage you to apply to UM-Dearborn. Dual enrollment students get priority consideration for admission – and the credits you’ve already earned here will count toward your bachelor’s degree.
Since I was little, I’ve wanted to go to college, but I wasn’t sure what it would take or what it would look like. Now that I have a better idea, I am excited.
