Upward Bound Math and Science
The Upward Bound Math and Science program (UBMS) is designed to strengthen math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science and ultimately careers in their desired profession.
60 students can be enrolled in the UBMS program.
Any 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students who attend Robichaud High School and come from a low-income or disadvantaged background, those with the potential to be a first-generation college student. Students are also eligible based on academic performance.
Preference is given to students with the desire to work in S.T.E.M fields.
Students will receive intensive instruction in:
- mathematics and science, including hands-on projects
- computer applications
- and exposure to real-world S.T.E.M careers through field trips and guest speakers
Aside from college preparatory skills and knowledge, participants gain early experience in their desired career fields. Students will also receive a monthly stipend for active participation in the UBMS program
