Faculty Research Council (FRC)
The Faculty Research Council (FRC) represents academic units from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Representatives review and revise research initiatives while offering guidance to the Research Office when reviewing and applying relevant policies and procedures at UM-Dearborn.
Membership and Service Terms
The FRC is chaired by the Vice Provost for Research and includes:
- Two tenured or tenure-track faculty members from each academic unit
- The Director of Research Development
- The Director of Research Administration
Faculty representatives are appointed by their academic units through internal selection processes. Each member serves a three-year term, with appointments staggered so that approximately one-third of the council rotates each year. This ensures continuity while bringing in new perspectives.
Meetings
The council meets monthly from September through April, with additional meetings in May if needed, particularly for Campus Grants review.
Current Office of Research Members
- Dr. Joan Remski, Interim Vice Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies
- Vessela A. Vassileva-Clarke, Director of Research Development
- Patricia Turnbull, Director of Research Administration
