Staff Senate

The Staff Senate was established to foster a spirit of unity, pride, and cooperation among staff members by recognizing the leadership role staff play in the daily work of the University.

The Staff Senate supports the University mission, and serves in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor and Human Resources Director on issues and concerns that are important to staff.

The Staff Senate serves to facilitate communication among all employees and University administrators concerning general University employment interests and concerns while encouraging the development of constructive suggestions.

Staff Senate Presents Professional Development Training Series

The Staff Senate Professional Development Committee has been working on providing workshops that align with the Staff Senate goals to make available several platforms for University of Michigan-Dearborn staff. The goal is to enhance professional development, employee morale, and balance working life.

  Within our Series, we aim:

  • To provide a learning platform for Technology Resources

  • To make available resources in a safe environment to learn

  • To make available a venue for open communication among staff

  • To establish a learning community where we can learn from each other and reach out for support and or tips

  • To provide online resources

Below are the recordings (along with any applicable worksheets) of the virtual training sessions that have previously been offered.

The Professional Development Committee has also compiled a list of platforms and resources that are available to staff members for additional support and training opportunities offered through services such as ITS, LinkedIn Learning, MyLinc, and Organizational Learning.

Staff Ombuds

The Office of the Staff Ombuds will offer support to staff members in resolving concerns and navigating university programs and resources. Facilitated by the U-M Ann Arbor ombuds program, the expanded service aligns with the university’s strategic goals to create a more fair, equitable and inclusive workplace. Campus currently has student ombuds and faculty ombuds programs, and this new staff program further expands the confidential service. Appointments will be held via Zoom or phone or, when requested, at the U-M Ann Arbor office. Questions? Visit the website or email [email protected].
