International Transfer Admissions
Transfer students are encouraged to apply early in their final semester prior to enrollment at UM-Dearborn and in advance of the deadlines below. All components of an application must be received prior to it being personally reviewed by an Admissions Counselor.

UM-Dearborn's Application Instructions
- Go to the Admissions Navigator
Click the Sign Up button. - Enter Your Information
Provide your preferred first name, last name, and email address. Then, select the “I’m not a robot” checkbox and click Submit. - Check Your Email
You will receive an email with the subject line “UM-Dearborn’s Online Application Username and Password Setup.” Open the email and click the link to set your new password. - Reset Your Password
On the password reset page, click Reset Password. - Create Your New Password
Enter your new password (must include both letters and numbers) and confirm it by entering it again. Then, click Save. - Login to the Application
Once your password is saved, you will be automatically logged into the online application page.
- Go to the Admissions Navigator
Select Reset Password. - Enter Your Email Address
Enter the email address you used to create your online application account, then click Reset Password. - Check Your Email
You will receive an email titled “UM-Dearborn’s Online Application Username and Password Setup.” Open the email and click the link inside. - Reset Your Password
Click Reset Password on the webpage, then enter your new password twice. Make sure your password contains both letters and numbers. - Save Your New Password
Once saved, you’ll be automatically logged into the online application page.

Transfer Admission Criteria
UM-Dearborn’s four academic colleges have their own admission criteria, as listed in the following grid:

*Students in Teacher Certification (elementary/secondary) must graduate from UM-Dearborn with a 2.75 or higher for this program.
Transferable Credits
If you have completed fewer than 24 transferable credit hours, you must also submit:
- See specific document requirements by country
- Final, official high school academic documents
- Standard College Entrance Examinations (optional)
- UM-Dearborn will not require the submission of ACT or SAT scores
- You will have the option to indicate on the admissions application if you want your test scores factored into your admission decision
- If you choose to submit scores, follow these links to request that your SAT and/or ACT results be sent to UM-Dearborn

- Failure to disclose ALL schools you have attended may result in revocation of admission
- UM-Dearborn requires a third-party credential evaluation for most international transfer coursework. We need course-by-course evaluations in order to complete the application review process. Students should submit all post-secondary transcripts from non-U.S. institutions directly to one of the following services to determine U.S. equivalence for each educational credential, including degree and accreditation as well as GPA and credit conversion.

Course-by-course evaluations from other NACES members may be utilized on a case-by-case basis.
The Office of International Affairs manages I-20 and DS-2019 processing. You can contact them directly for further details related to:
- Proof of Financial Support
- Health Insurance
- Maintenance of F-1 and J-1 status
- Moving to a new country
- Optional Practical Training (OPT) for STEM-designated programs
Admitted international students who require an F or J student visa must provide certification of financial resources. Financial Affidavit and Bank Certification forms are not required for your admissions application to be reviewed.
Application Deadlines
It is recommended that students submit applications well in advance of the application deadlines to secure seats in your preferred classes. Courses fill quickly.

Student Expectations
The primary purpose of the Statement of Student Rights and Code of Student Conduct is to assist the University in providing an environment which supports the educational process and the well-being of the campus community. The responsibility for maintaining such an environment is shared by all members of the campus community including faculty, staff, current and prospective students. Therefore, any person expressing interest in enrolling at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the Code of Conduct.
Behaviors inconsistent with the Code of Student Conduct will not be tolerated. The University seeks applicants that demonstrate the potential to be contributing members of the campus community and reserves the right to deny admission based upon violation(s) of the Code of Student Conduct.
