Financial Analytics 4+1 Program
Finance or Econ majors: move on to your master's degree more quickly and at less cost.
The Financial Analytics 4+1 program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn allows students majoring in Finance or Economics to earn both the bachelor's degree and the Master of Science in Financial Analytics with a substantial savings of time and money.
You can double-count up to five master's-level finance courses toward your undergraduate program and the MS in Financial Analytics. Not only will you save five courses, but you'll only be charged the undergraduate base tuition rate for those five master's courses. The total value of the course substitutions is approximately $17,000 if you go on to complete the MS in Financial Analytics, assuming part-time enrollment at resident tuition rates.
Financial Analytics 4+1 Curriculum for BBA Finance Majors
In the Financial Analytics 4+1 program, you would complete the curriculum requirements for the BBA Finance major and the MS in Financial Analytics, but with the following modified requirements for the BBA Finance major:
FIN 581 - Advanced Corporate Finance (replaces FIN 402)*
FIN 651 - Investment Procedures Analysis and Management (replaces FIN 407)*
FIN 652 - Derivatives and Risk Management (replaces FIN 447)*
FIN 655 - International Financial Management (replaces IB 441)*
FIN 657 - Investment Fund Management (replaces FIN 457)*
ACC 608 - Financial Statement Analysis (replaces ACC 358)*
*To receive the full benefit of the 4+1 program, make sure you enroll in the 500- and 600-level courses, not the corresponding undergraduate courses. Up to five of these courses (15 credits) may double-count in the BBA Finance major and the MS-Finance program.
Students must complete the graduate level courses with a grade of B or better to maintain eligibility in the 4+1 program.
You are eligible to apply if you are:
- Currently enrolled at UM-Dearborn as a BBA student with a declared Finance major
- Have completed BE 401 and FIN 401 (if currently enrolled in one or more of these, you may seek conditional admission)
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 at UM-Dearborn
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0 in BE and Finance courses at UM-Dearborn
To take full advantage, apply for admission to the 4+1 option before you take FIN 402, FIN 407, FIN 447, IB 441, FIN 457, and ACC 338. (You will want to take the graduate versions of those same courses FIN 581, FIN 651, FIN 652, FIN 655, FIN 657, and ACC 608 respectively.)

Financial Analytics 4+1 Curriculum for Economics Majors
In the Financial Analytics 4+1 program, you would complete the curriculum requirements for your undergraduate degree program and the BS in Economics, but you would take up to five of the following courses as electives in your undergraduate program.
Please speak with your academic advisor to plan your courses and make sure you understand how many free elective courses you have.
