Capital Projects and Space Request Process
Capital Projects, New/Additional Space Allocation, Design, and Construction Requests
Capital Projects, New/Additional Space Allocation, Design, and Construction Requests are submitted each year as part of the annual budgeting process. This approach allows all potential projects to be reviewed together on an annual basis, assuring that financial and staff resources are allocated in close alignment with the university’s vision and strategy. It also allows the university to prioritize, schedule, and fund capital projects on an annual basis and, in conjunction with the 5-year plans submitted with the space/capital requests, to develop/refine a pro-active 2-5 year plan for the campus.
Current and New Requests
Each university unit maintains a list of their Capital Project and Space Requests on the CPSR Form. If you would like to submit a Capital Project or Space Request for review, please contact the person in your area who maintains the CPSR Form. If you do not know who maintains the Form for your unit, contact the Facilities Operations Call Center at 313-593-5270 during business hours.
Please reference the Current Capital Project List (updated after each annual and off-cycle review) for a list of current projects and schedules. Please reference the Completed Capital Project List for a list of completed projects.
Project Team:
Larger projects are assigned a project manager for the appropriate team at the beginning of the project process. This person is responsible for the project from initiation to completion, creating a single point of interface for the end user and a single point of responsibility for the project.
