The Human Resources Office is pleased to inform the Dearborn campus community of an important change in the process for requesting ADA accommodations for employees. Effective September 1, 2024, the responsibility for handling all ADA accommodation requests will transition from Dearborn Human Resources to the U-M Disability Equity Office.
This change aims to streamline the support process for ADA accommodations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and reinforcing our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for all members of our community.
What Does This Mean for You?
- Updated Process: Detailed instructions and the necessary forms for requesting accommodations are now available on their website at the Disability Equity Office.
- New Point of Contact: For any ADA accommodation requests, please contact the U-M Disability Equity Office at [email protected], 734-763-0235 or Contact/Request form.
- Seamless Transition: If you have an active accommodation request or are currently receiving accommodations, rest assured that there will be no disruption. Your case will be transferred smoothly to the new office, and you will continue to receive the support you need. If you have an accommodation that is already in place, and need to reengage in the interactive process, please complete the initial contact form on the Disability Equity Office website. If you currently have an open request, please contact Dearborn HR and we will determine the next steps to ensure there is no disruption in your case.
Why the Change?
Moving the ADA accommodation process under the U-M Disability Equity Office allows us to:
- Enhance the coordination and consistency of accommodation services.
- Leverage specialized expertise and experience within the Disability Equity Office staff at U-M.
- Foster an inclusive environment that supports all employees.
