Optimizing the Home Office for Your Well-Being
Virtual workshop on home ergonomics presented by Kelsey Toeppe, OTRL MHealthy Medical Ergonomics
About the presentation: Many of us are now working from home using non-traditional workspaces. In this presentation, you will learn fundamental ergonomic principles, how to evaluate the fit of your space and gain insight into how to use existing resources within your home to create a workspace that meets your needs. When applied, office ergonomics can help to increase comfort and productivity, while reducing discomforts and risk factors for injury. You will also learn about our ergonomic resources including self-help tools and virtual consultations, which are available to all employees who are currently working remotely. We will wrap up the session with a live Q&A!
About the presenter: Kelsey graduated from The University of Michigan School of Kinesiology in 2010 and became an Occupational Therapist in 2014. She worked in inpatient rehab at Michigan Medicine prior to transitioning to MHealthy Medical Ergonomics in 2019. She enjoys learning about the work that each and every one does at Michigan, meeting new people and providing ergonomics education to all employees that is specific to their work and unique needs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, crafting, and spending time with family.

Campus Lactation Rooms
Lactation Rooms are available for use by students, faculty and staff of the University of Michigan-Dearborn who are nursing mothers. The rooms are NOT intended to provide space to rest for those with medical conditions that are highly contagious from contact with contaminated surfaces (e.g. influenza, stomach viruses, common cold, pink eye, etc). Individuals with those types of medical conditions should rest at home and seek medical care, as appropriate. The University sponsors lactation/quiet rooms in various buildings campus-wide to promote work/life balance for greater morale, satisfaction, and productivity within the University community. For assistance or additional information, please contact the Office of Human Resources and Institutional Equity by phone at 313-593-5190 or by email at [email protected].
The lactation rooms are available for students, faculty, staff and guests.
Campus Lactation Room Locations:
Please visit the Women at UM-Dearborn page for information on Mothering/Lactation Rooms on Campus.
Cleaning & Sanitization:
All Lactation Room users are expected to clean up after each use of a room, especially when using personal breast pump equipment. This is not only out of respect for the next user, but to prevent contamination and illness transmission. If the Lactation Rooms require immediate attention, please contact the Facilities Team at 313-593-5270.
