Office of the Vice President and General Counsel
The Office of the Vice President and General Counsel represents and advises the entire University of Michigan community, including the Board of Regents, the President, the Executive Officers, Michigan Medicine and the schools and colleges on all three campuses. They provide legal guidance and advice so units can fulfill their educational, research and entrepreneurial missions in accordance with all legal and policy requirements applicable to public research universities. University Audits
University Audits provides services to all levels of management with information regarding the internal control environment throughout the university (UM-Ann Arbor, UM-Flint, UM-Dearborn and Michigan Medicine). They work in partnership with other university units to monitor, identify and manage risks, improve processes and investigate fraud.

To maintain the University of Michigan’s credibility in the eyes of the public, it is important that all members of the campus community disclose any potential conflicts of interest (COI) or conflicts of commitment (COC) as soon as they arise so that they can be evaluated objectively and, if necessary, managed or eliminated.
In addition to SPG 201.65-1, University employees are governed by their unit-level faculty or staff COI/COC policy. The resources below provide more information about these policies and what you need to do as a responsible University of Michigan employee.

The Office of the Ombuds is a place where students’ questions, complaints and concerns about the functioning of the university can be discussed confidentially in a safe environment. They offer informal dispute resolution services, provide resources and referrals and help students consider options available to them.

UM-Dearborn, Financial Services
The Finance Division partners with the U-M community to provide stewardship, protect assets and ensure that state, federal and other regulations are followed in financial-related matters. Areas within the Finance Division that support these compliance-related efforts include Financial Operations, Internal Controls, Procurement Services, Risk Management, Sponsored Programs, Tax and Treasury Services.
Procurement Services manages a diverse selection of goods and services used by the University of Michigan. They establish and handle all supplier relationships with the university and have signatory authority for all supplier contracts to ensure all of U-M’s purchasing initiatives are conducted in an ethical manner.

Public Safety and Emergency Management

Our Mission
