Education and Training
There are many ways for UM-Dearborn students, staff, and faculty to learn more about LGBTQ+ identities and experiences.
Training
We offer different trainings each semester to help students, staff, and faculty of all identities learn more about the LGBTQ+ community. All trainings are available by request through this form and can be done for any kind of audience and even during the summer!
The Fall 2024 offerings can be found below:
This training is an introductory course on sexuality, gender, and expression, as well as identities within the LGBTQ+ community. No prior knowledge is needed and any student, staff, or faculty member can request this training.
This training focuses on gender identity as a concept as well as an identity and how transgender students experience college differently than their non-transgender peers. No prior knowledge is needed.
This training is intended to provide essential competencies to any UM-Dearborn office, department, or student organization. Each training is different because each group is different.
This interactive training will encourage open and honest conversations about sexual health and wellness, STIs and HIV, and ways to practice safer sex. No prior knowledge is required.
Academics
The LGBTQ Studies Certificate prepares students to work and live in our diverse world by concentrating on forms of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression that are frequently left out of traditional fields of study.
The LGBTQ Studies Certificate can complement your major or stand alone as a post-baccalaureate credential.
