Transfer Student Engagement
The Office of Student Life (OSL) is committed to providing transfer students with a rich and transformational college experience. Through various programs, resources, and on-campus partnerships, OSL provides the support needed to transition transfer students to the University with a great sense of connection, engagement, and involvement.
As a transfer student, you are a valued part of our community as you join many other students like you who are committed to pursuing their educational goals. We recognize that transfers have different needs than first-year students, and we are here to make your adjustment and transition into our community as smooth as possible.
The Office of the Provost has compiled resources offered across the university to support student success both in and out of the classroom. Check them at the Success at Dearborn webpage!
The Tau Sigma Honor Society is an academic honor society designed specifically to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students." The Beta Sigma Chapter at UM-Dearborn, founded in 2009, was the first chapter to be organized in the state of Michigan.
By establishing chapters at four year institutions across the country, we are able to recognize the academic achievement of the most outstanding transfers nationwide and, in the process, help universities better serve their transfer populations. Tau Sigma members (among the most accomplished transfer students on campus) are perhaps the greatest resource available to serve the current and future transfers at your institution.
UM-Dearborn proudly offers thousands of scholarships each year to deserving students. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, community service, financial need, special talents, or other criteria. Students are encouraged to actively research all scholarship opportunities which are applicable.

The Wolverine Mentor Collective (Wolverine MC) is an exciting new mentoring program for first year, second year, and transfer undergraduate students. Students are matched with mentors who are there to offer guidance as students acclimate to life in college. Mentors will assist mentees in navigating the many adjustments that students often face when attending college for the first time.
When signing up, you can note that you would prefer a mentor who is also a transfer student.
