Frequently Asked Questions
These questions are general and may apply to students, student organization leaders, staff, and faculty.
VictorsLink is an engagement platform that is accessible to all UM-Dearborn staff, faculty, and current students. Powered by Rubric, LLC, the platform serves as a tool for marketing campus events, tracking event attendance, generating student engagement data, showcasing student organizations, and more! Both University units and student organizations create profiles that can be used to manage all of the aforementioned features.
There are many benefits to using an engagement platform. First and foremost, it is a centralized space for students, staff, and faculty to learn what is happening on campus. Additionally, the platform helps us to…
- Offer a free marketing tool to student organizations and University units
- Expand student organization and department administrative tools and resources
- Showcase what our campus has to offer to incoming and prospective students
- More sustainably market and manage our organizations/units
- Reach students, staff, and faculty any time, any place on their mobile device
- Assist with organization and unit transition year after year
What’s more is that this new version of VictorsLink offers a lot of opportunities to track student involvement, event attendance, volunteer opportunities and service hours, co-curricular learning, and how all of these things impact student retention, success, and graduation rates so that UM-Dearborn can understand trends to best support students.
The VictorsLink portal will allow all students, staff, and faculty to view VictorsLink, regardless of whether they are an organization executive member, faculty/staff advisor, or department profile administrator. This portal highlights upcoming events, student organizations who have completed re-registration, and Office of Student Life forms. Please note that to access the full set of features, you will need to log in with your UMICH credentials.
Additionally, students, faculty, and staff who are organization executives AND on the organization’s/unit’s VictorsLink roster can access the club executive portal once logged in.
This portal is where student organization executive members and department profile administrators will be able to access their administrative webpage. From this page, executives and administrators can complete affiliation as a part of re-registration, apply for SOAC funding, create events, manage members, upload governing documents, and more! This is also where you will go to edit the public “link in bio” page for your organization, which is your organization’s public-facing site.
Yes! VictorsLink has a companion app that is powered by Rubric, LLC. This app primarily functions as a mobile all-campus portal where you can see available student organization memberships and campus events. “Memberships” serve as a pass to join the organization in VictorsLink. Memberships can be edited by executives; however, we have set up a general membership pass for your organization to ensure your organization appears on the mobile app.
Student organization management functions are not available through the app.
Registered student organizations and campus departments with public profiles can fill out the event submission form in the club executive portal. A how-to video is available in the Student Organization Essential Training Canvas course.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of this resource and enroll in the Canvas course as well!
We are currently working on integration with the University Calendar; in the meantime, please submit to the University Calendar directly.
Student Organization Essentials Training is a Canvas course that is open to ALL student organization members AND staff and faculty!
While staff and faculty may not find all of the modules relevant, the second module would be helpful for anyone looking to learn more about how to navigate VictorsLink. Additionally, Staff and Faculty Advisors are encouraged to go through the training to understand the expectations of the student organizations that they advise.
The company behind VictorsLink indeed uses different words to describe things like registration, student organizations, departments, etc. We know learning new terms can be a challenge, so we have provided a quick guide below for some of the new words you might encounter.
- Union - In the context of VictorsLink, “union” means the University of Michigan-Dearborn, which is the overarching entity that runs the VictorsLink site.
- Society or Club - Any student organization or department that has a profile in the VictorsLink platform.
- Executive Committee - Another phrase for executive board or executives. In the context of campus departments, this means any staff or faculty member that has been given administrative access to the unit’s profile by adding them as an “executive” on the unit’s roster.
- Affiliation - The process through which student organizations and departments register for the first time with the Office of Student Life via the VictorsLink platform. It is important to note that the process for student organizations and departments is not the same.
- Re-Affiliation - The process through which student organizations re-register with the Office of Student Life and UM-Dearborn. Re-affiliation happens annually and is mandatory for all existing student organizations to be recognized.
- Membership - When you want to join a student organization’s or department’s page, you must purchase a membership. Most memberships are free of charge, but some organization’s have their own fees that are required to join. That said, at this time, no membership fees will be charged through VictorsLink. Instead, those fees will be paid via an alternative payment method determined by the student organization.
- Link in Bio - The page where you can update your organization or department’s public-facing profile. It’s called “link in bio” because it is the URL you would link to social media, in forms, on websites, etc., for external parties to access your organization/department’s VictorsLink profile page.
- Merchandise - The VictorsLink platform has a merchandising feature that is not currently active for UM-Dearborn’s campus. That said, you will frequently see reference to an organization or department’s “merchandise” throughout the site. This is a feature that the Office of Student Life is exploring to potentially offer to student organizations and departments in the future.
- Ticket - Instead of an RSVP form, this platform requires a ticket to be “purchased. This ticket is downloadable to your wallet app or viewable in the VictorsLink mobile app. When you attend an event, the organization or department hosting the event may scan your ticket to check you in.
As merchandising and money exchange features are currently turned off in the platform, transactions may not actually be made in VictorsLink. If an event has a cost associated with it, then that is to be handled via another payment method designated by the student organization or department.
