How to Apply for Certificate Programs

A brief overview of your next steps.

Review Admissions Criteria

Each program has unique admissions criteria, such as GPA requirements or course prerequisites.

We recommend reviewing the program page for your certificate of interest for specific details.

Apply Online

Undergraduate Certificates:

  • Complete the Non-Degree Application online; once you are logged into your account, select “Certificates.” Applications will be accepted until midnight the day prior to the start of classes for each semester.

Graduate Certificates:

  • If you are not currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at UM-Dearborn, complete the online Graduate Admissions Application using the instructions found on our Apply as a Graduate website.

Students already enrolled in a graduate degree program at UM-Dearborn may declare a Graduate Certificate to supplement their primary field of study or area of expertise. Rather than completing the Online Application, submit a completed Declaration of Certificate Form and return it to the academic unit which supports the certificate.

Submit Transcripts

After submitting your application, you can upload your official transcripts. Keep in mind the GPA requirements for your specific program.

Review Steps for Admitted Students

If you are admitted to a certificate program, you’ll complete a variety of additional steps before starting classes, such as setting up your Wolverine ID, meeting with an academic advisor and registering for courses.

Go to the Admitted Undergraduate Non-Degree Students Page.
