Next Steps
Please review the steps below to keep you on track to start your education journey at UM-Dearborn.
Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online using UM-Dearborn school code 0023236.
Students with a completed FAFSA on file will be sent a Cost and Aid Summary that will reflect UM-Dearborn’s value and how our Michigan degree offers a great return on educational investment.
You can review a sample Cost & Aid Summary to learn more.
Upon receipt of your Cost & Aid Summary you should accept your aid by following these steps.
When you were admitted, you should have received an email from [email protected] with instructions on setting up your uniqname and umich.edu email account. This email also included your 8-digit University of Michigan ID number (UMID). You must have both the UMID and uniqname to sign up for placement exams and orientation, and register for classes. After you have created your uniqname, please allow two business days for it to be added to our system. If you received your UMID and haven't set up your uniqname, you can obtain your uniqname now at the ITS website.
Degree Works is a web-based degree audit tool that you can use to view your transfer and exam credit (if applicable). It outlines the requirements of your expected degree and shows which requirements are met by your transfer credit and which requirements remain. Follow this link for more information and to access Degree Works.
Information for Orientation and Placement Exams can be found here.
Final official high school transcripts: These must be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions directly from your high school that shows your date of graduation once available. Please contact your high school to learn about their process to have these transcripts sent. Failure to do so may result in a hold being placed on your student account that prevents registration for future terms.
Dual Enrollment College transcripts: In order to receive transfer credit for dual enrollment coursework or courses taken through early/middle college programs, please be sure to submit a final official transcript from the college or university where you took the coursework. These transcripts must be sent to us directly from the institution prior to your orientation session.
For AP/IB credit, official test scores will need to be submitted once available. Our AP code is 1861 (if applicable).
