UM-Dearborn's Application Instructions
Helpful information for creating an account, setting up your password, and checking your admission status.
- Go to the Admissions Navigator
Click the Sign Up button. - Enter Your Information
Provide your preferred first name, last name, and email address. Then, select the “I’m not a robot” checkbox and click Submit. - Check Your Email
You will receive an email with the subject line “UM-Dearborn’s Online Application Username and Password Setup.” Open the email and click the link to set your new password. - Reset Your Password
On the password reset page, click Reset Password. - Create Your New Password
Enter your new password (must include both letters and numbers) and confirm it by entering it again. Then, click Save. - Login to the Application
Once your password is saved, you will be automatically logged into the online application page.
- Go to the Admissions Navigator
Select Reset Password. - Enter Your Email Address
Enter the email address you used to create your online application account, then click Reset Password. - Check Your Email
You will receive an email titled “UM-Dearborn’s Online Application Username and Password Setup.” Open the email and click the link inside. - Reset Your Password
Click Reset Password on the webpage, then enter your new password twice. Make sure your password contains both letters and numbers. - Save Your New Password
Once saved, you’ll be automatically logged into the online application page.
Transfer Admission Criteria
Transfer admission to UM-Dearborn is based on grades and credits earned from prior coursework as determined on transcripts from all previously attended institutions. UM-Dearborn’s four academic colleges have their own admission criteria, as listed in the following grid:

Determining Transferability of Credits
At UM-Dearborn, we value the hard work put into the credits earned at your current college. We’ve developed the Course Transfer System, a tool to help you determine how much of your existing coursework will transfer to our campus.
Transferable Credits
The maximum number of credit hours that are transferable are as follows:
- From a community college: 62
- From a four-year college: 75
- From another University of Michigan campus: 90
Application Materials
Transfer students are encouraged to apply early in their final semester prior to enrollment at UM-Dearborn and in advance of the deadlines above. To apply, the following information is required:
- Submitted online application — it's free and easy!
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended
- Send directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
- Failure to disclose all schools you have attended may result in revocation of admission
- If you have completed fewer than 24 credit hours, you must also submit:
- Final, official high school transcript(s)
- SAT and/or ACT test score(s)
- English language proficiency for non-native speakers
Application Deadlines
- Summer I 2025 Semester: April 15* (Classes begin May 5, 2025)
- Summer II 2025 Semester: June 15* (Classes begin June 30, 2025)
- Fall 2025 Semester: August 15* (Classes begin August 27, 2025)
*All materials including all transcripts, test scores, etc. must be received by application deadline to be considered for admission. Late materials will not be accepted.
*Please note semester start dates. It is recommended that students submit applications and materials well in advance of the application deadlines to secure seats in your preferred classes. Courses fill quickly.
Completing Your Application
Listed below are some of the most commonly requested items needed to complete an application for undergraduate admission, and how to make a change to your application. If you have further questions, please email [email protected]
- College Transcript – An official transcript sent directly by the issuing institution
- Conduct Documentation – A detailed statement of explanation for each incident with supporting documentation. Visit Conduct Review for more information.
- Copy of Social Security Card – You did not provide your social security number on your application. This is not required for admission, but may delay financial aid processing.
- High School Transcript – An official transcript sent directly to UM-Dearborn by the school for transfer students with less than 24 transferrable credits
- SAT/ACT Scores – Sent directly to UM-Dearborn by the testing agency or posted on your high school transcript for transfer students with less than 24 transferrable credits
Once you have submitted your application, should you need to make a change (ex: desired major), please email us at [email protected] rather than submitting a new application.
Student Expectations
The primary purpose of the Statement of Student Rights and Code of Student Conduct is to assist the University in providing an environment which supports the educational process and the well-being of the campus community.
