In addition to campus resources, there are a variety of helpful resources available in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties and nationally.  Many of these resources are confidential; however, please ask about confidentiality when contacting the resource if confidentiality is of importance to you.

  • The Avalon Healing Center (formerly Wayne County-SAFE)
    The Avalon Healing Center provides those affected by sexual assault with immediate and ongoing comprehensive services (including medical forensic exams, counseling, and advocacy and crisis intervention), at no cost.  Avalon encourages survivor healing and empowerment, promotes public awareness and leads social change.

  • First Step-Western Wayne County
    PEACEFUL FAMILIES, SAFE COMMUNITIES
    Since 1978, First Step has been working for peaceful families and safe communities in Wayne County, Michigan. First Step is the only non-profit agency in out-Wayne County providing comprehensive services for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

  • ACCESS-Victime of Crime Act Program (VOCA)
    ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) has been serving the community for more than 40 years. Founded by a group of dedicated volunteers in 1971 out of a storefront in Dearborn’s south end, ACCESS was created to assist the Arab immigrant population adapt to life in the United States.

  • Haven-Oakland County
    As Oakland County’s only comprehensive program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming to nearly 20,000 people each year.

  • SAFE House Center-Washtenaw County
    SafeHouse Center provides support for those impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault. SafeHouse provides free and confidential services for any person victimized that lives or works in Washtenaw County. Our services include emergency shelter for those in danger of being hurt or killed, counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and especially, hope.

  • Turning Point-Macomb County
    Turning Point’s mission is to provide programs and resources that enable victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives.

  • Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center
    SAPAC promotes social change and activism on two levels: through the professional services we provide to the University of Michigan community, and through student leadership development wherein students help students as peers. We believe that women and men must work together to eradicate sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, and intimate partner violence and that this necessitates activism in many areas, including education, advocacy, crisis-intervention, safety-building, bystander intervention and policy development.

    The Department of Victim Services (DVS) at EQMI provides dedicated survivor-centered services to LGBTQ, SGL, and individuals living with HIV who have experienced violence, discrimination, and harassment.EQMI DVS works to increase self-determination, safety, and power for people who have been harmed.

  • Community Health & Social Services (LA VIDA)
    LA VIDA Partnership, a community program of CHASS Center, is a domestic violence and sexual assault intervention and prevention program that provides linguistically and culturally appropriate services and resources targeted to Latino/a youth and families in Southwest Detroit and Southeast Michigan. All services are provided in English and Spanish.

  • RAINN – Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network National Hotline
    RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
