The University offers a respectful and inclusive environment that prohibits discrimination and discriminatory harassment on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Campus Resources for Students
The Office of Student Life, located in 2170 James C. Renick University Center, facilitates programs and events, such as the annual LGBTQ+ Fall Mixer, National Coming Out Day/Week, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Lavender Celebration, and the annual Drag Show, as well as other support services for all interested students.

Chosen Name and Pronouns offers helpful information about chosen names (sometimes referred to as preferred names), legal names, and pronouns.
Community Resources
In addition to the resources in the Office of Student Life, there are a variety of helpful community resources that are specific to the LGBTQIA+ population. Many of these resources are confidential; however, please ask about confidentiality when contacting the resource if confidentiality is of importance to you.
Local Resources
These resources are available in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties and nationally.
Affirmations is a general LGBTQIA+ resource and community center located in Ferndale. A few services are behavioral health, Intimate Partner Violence and Housing resources.
Corktown Health is a LGBTQIA+ focused primary care center located in Corktown Detroit.
LGBT Detroit focuses on youth and young adult development, sexual orientation and gender identity education and advocacy, and emotional and physical well-being.
Ruth Ellis Center offers education and employment pathways, housing services for LGBTQIA+ people, integrated behavioral and primary care.
State and National Resources

Equality Michigan provides victim services, education and outreach services for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Lambda Legal provides Legal services for the LGBTQIA+ community and those living with HIV
The Trevor Project provides behavioral health services for the LGBTQIA+ community. A few include crisis services, peer support and public education.
