First Generation College Students
Being the first to do anything can be a challenge, but there is also a sense of pride that comes with blazing a trail and being among the first in your family to go to college; being a first generation college student is a point of accomplishment and celebration.
The First Gen Program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is designed to inform, connect, and celebrate first generation college students.
At UM-Dearborn, a first generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not have the opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree.

This is a an ideal opportunity for students to voice their experiences and be a part of shaping the first gen experience for semesters to come.
