Canvas Help & Support - Video (Kaltura/MiVideo)

Kaltura, often branded as MiVideo by University of Michigan, is a university wide system which provides video storage and playback options in UM-Dearborn's Canvas.  In Canvas, the "My Kaltura Media" user profile menu item and the "Kaltura Media Gallery" course menu item are connected to Kaltura.  Kaltura generally should not be used to host copyright content for which neither UM-Dearborn nor U-M Ann Arbor have a license to use.  For assistance with a different Canvas issue, please see the Canvas Help & Support front page.

For questions about adding media to a course, capturing your screen/webcam/microphone, or adding closed captioning to a video, please see the guides below.

• Uploading and Embedding in Canvas: MiVideo within Canvas
• Recording: Kaltura Capture (presentation, screen, webcam, and/or audio capturing)
• Captioning: requesting machine-generated captions and editing captions

For additional troubleshooting of videos within the Kaltura system or questions not answered in the guides above, please contact the UM-Dearborn support personnel listed below from 8am-5pm on UM-Dearborn workdays.  Immediate night and weekend support for Kaltura is not available at this time.
