UM-Dearborn wants to help all new students succeed by providing you with the tools to develop a solid educational foundation and programming to support you whether you're a new freshman, transfer or graduate student.
Dearborn Discovery Core is a campus-wide general education program designed to complement the coursework you’ll do in your area of study. It’s a combination of lower- and upper-level courses across many academic disciplines. With this base, you’ll uncover potential new areas of interest and graduate with a strong toolkit for success, no matter the field you pursue.
Degree Works combines the University of Michigan-Dearborn's degree requirements and the student's completed and in-progress coursework into an easy-to-read worksheet that will help students see how courses completed at UM-Dearborn, and courses transferred from other schools count toward degree requirements. This site offers instructional videos on how to get started.
The Office of Student Life offers success programming for new students to support you as you begin your college career.
Whether it's meeting with an academic advisor or studying in the library, the university has a wealth of resources all students can utilize on the path to success.

Community Read is an opportunity for all university students, faculty and staff to engage in a conversation about a new book each academic year. Events are held throughout the year to give campus community members a chance to come together and discuss the chosen book.
You can visit the Mardigian Library in person or online to access a variety of research resources, including subject guides specific to your area of study. You can also reserve group study space, use a computer, work with a librarian to find the resources you need to succeed and more.
All students can take advantage of the resources offered by a number of learning centers on campus, including:

The Center for Social Justice and Inclusion offers resources and programming in the following areas:
Disability and Accessibility Service (DAS) collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create usable, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable learning environments. There may be times when there are aspects of the instruction or design of courses result in barriers to inclusion or to accurate assessment of achievement. When that is the case, Disability Services will work with you to arrange for accommodations.

Experience+ is a new campus collaborative supporting students’ academic, personal, and professional growth by promoting experiential learning through intercultural, digital, and information literacies. Get technology assistance from our TechTutors, participate in undergraduate research through the SURE program, and learn more about other exciting initiatives.
