James C. Renick University Center

Welcome to the James C. Renick University Center, the "living room" of our campus.

The James C. Renick University Center is the heart & soul of our campus community as it plays the role of living room, activity center, gathering place, service center, and dining room. It is a unifying force at the university, the center of collaboration and community on campus for everyone. The RUC is the ultimate expression of our students’ home away from home.

Several meeting spaces call the James C. Renick University Center home, including a boardroom meeting space, two meeting rooms for approximately 25 guests each, and our premier multi-purpose room, Kochoff Hall. This 5,500 square foot space can be divided into 3 individual rooms or combinations thereof. When rented as 1 large space, the hall will accommodate gatherings of 200 seated banquet style or up to 340 people in an auditorium seating style. You may explore additional room configuration options by working with an event planner.

A bounty of student-centered activities, business offices, and campus departments can be found under our roof. Whether seeking an outlet for eating and relaxing or meeting with a study group or with an advisor -  it can all be found right here. The building atrium abounds with activity, where you could happen upon a student playing the guitar, a poster display, a student organization bake sale table, a trivia contest on the activities stage, or even a line dance in progress.

Students will find the Office for Student Life, the Admissions Office, the Registrar’s Office, Student Accounts and Financial Aid, and more, alongside our campus partners  McKinley Cafe, the UM Credit Union, and Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Several other amenities can be found in the RUC which include a lactation room, reflection room, footbath, and an ATM.

Information Center and General Information

Welcome! Upon entering the James C. Renick University Center, you can expect to be greeted by our student ambassador team at the Information Center. This is the centralized hub for campus information whether that be by phone, email, or stopping by the desk to make inquiries. A prominent service available at the Information Center is the processing of an Mcard which is your official university photo ID. One of our ambassadors will initiate or renew an Mcard for your convenience.  A photo will be taken and the Mcard will be issued minutes later.  Please refer to our Photo ID page for more details regarding materials to bring or costs associated with the Mcard service at UM-Dearborn.

As  “the” information station, the ambassador team can provide information on everything from a bus schedule to directions to various university buildings, to keeping you apprised of events happening across our campus. We are at your service by calling 313-583-6330 or [email protected].

Information Desk location is 1133 James C. Renick University Center at the south entrance door of the building facing Evergreen and parking lot E5.
