Policies
The following policies outlines the rules and processes all campus members must abide by regarding flyers and banners. The posting of any information or advertisement and distribution of posted materials is governed not only by the below policy, but by all other applicable University policies and procedures. Posted material includes, but is not limited to: flyers, signs, table tents, and/or posters.
In order to post flyers around campus, the flyer must be stamped by the Office of Student Life. This can be done at the Campus Involvement Hub (RUC 1290) or the Office of Student Life Main Suite (RUC 2136). Only current UM-Dearborn students, staff, or faculty are allowed to get flyers stamped. They may be asked to present their UM ID card before receiving stamping. To receive stamping and posting approval, the flyer must include the name of the organization, contact information including a UMich email address, and it optimally should have the name of what the flyer is for (i.e. name of the event).
Approved posted material may only be posted on designated bulletin boards for public posting, not on boards owned by particular offices, building walls/doors, or University signage. Standard staples, thumb-tacks and pushpins are the only approved methods of affixing posted materials to bulletin boards and/or tack strips.
While banners do not need to be stamped by the Office of Student Life, they must abide by the same rules as flyers. Specifically, they must include the name of the organization, contact information including a UMich email address, and an outline of what the banner is advertising, if applicable. If not in accordance with this, then banners will not be approved.
Banners will be posted by the Office of Student Life in the University Center or Fairlane Center South for up to two weeks or until the advertised event has passed. Banners will only be posted in the University Center or Fairlane Center South if they are printed by the Office of Student Life.

Programming and Events
The Office of Student Life is Not Responsible for Collection Boxes or the Donations placed within them. OSL is also not responsible for providing boxes to use for collection. Student Orgs or Departments hosting the drive are responsible for the collection of donated items from the boxes should they become full. They are also responsible for picking the donation boxes up at the end of the drive. In the case of donation drives intending to benefit the Student Food Pantry, you must meet with a representative from Dearborn Support before submitting this form and starting your drive. You can contact them at [email protected].
Placing Boxes and Signage Requirements
All boxes should be clearly labeled with the department / student organization and have an official University of Michigan email (@umich.edu) contact. Boxes should not be placed in areas that will decrease the walking space and cause that space to no longer be accessible. You should avoid placing boxes in places that are tripping or safety hazards. Avoid placing boxes at the top/bottom of stairs, immediately outside of a classroom door, or in the middle of a hallway. In order to place a box in a department's office space you should be in contact with them and receive permission.
Any student organization wishing to show a movie and/or documentary for public viewing must have written permission and/or have purchased a license for viewing. For more information, contact the Office of Student Life.
