Annual History Award Winners
Every year, the History Discipline celebrates excellence in its students through annual awards. Students in the program are recognized for research, writing, digital presentations, Honors, and much more.

History Awards
The History Discipline awards two biennial prizes recognizing outstanding student work in history courses. The Essay Prize honors exceptional historical research and writing by UM–Dearborn students, while the Digital Presentation Prize recognizes excellence in presenting historical materials through digital or multimedia formats. Both prizes are open to students of any major and are awarded every other year.
2025 Winners
Essay Prize:

• Honorable Mention: Casey Cooper, "The Caped Defenders of American Ideals"
• Honorable Mention: Leslie Arena, "Truman and Korea: Analyzing the Administration's Policies in South Korea, 1947-1949"
Digital Presentation Prize:
• Winner: Kamellah Staten, "From Tensions to Turmoil: Race Riots that Stormed the City of Detroit in 1833, 1863, 1943, and 1967"
