Parent/Guardian Association
As a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the ECEC you are automatically a member of the ECEC Parent Association.
The Parent Association is recognized as having a special interest in the Center's operation. All Center parents are encouraged to participate in the Parent Association. The Association is an advocate for Center parent interests, has representatives on the Early Childhood Education Center Advisory Board, plans small special events for children and contributes services and funds to the Center on a voluntary basis. In addition, the Parent Association awards scholarship funds annually to ECEC families.
Get Involved
There are a variety of ways you can get involved with the Parent Association through your time, skills, classroom representative, Facebook sharing, monetary donations and more! It is free to join and all resources benefit the children.
All parents are encouraged to participate if possible through attending meetings, volunteering for events, or giving time in other ways to contribute.
The Parent Association has a board each year that consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The 2023-2024 President is Lacea Zavala. All other board representatives will be nominated and elected at the first meeting.

The Parent Association will share information through classroom communications and through its private Facebook Page. To join the Facebook page, your name must be listed as a Parent/Guardian of a currently enrolled UM-Dearborn Early Childhood Education Center student. Other members include: ECEC teachers and staff, University of Michigan-Dearborn faculty or staff, community members who have authorization and clearance to be members of the site. All members are approved by the Parent Association President or Vice President. In addition, all posts require approval from the Parent Association President or Vice President, and tagging pictures is prohibited.
Several fundraisers are held throughout the year where a percentage of the proceeds received are donated the Parent Association. Previous fundraisers include:

- Mom to Mom Sales
- Vendor Sales Events
- Little Caesar Pizza Kits
All fundraisers will be announced prior to the event and we encourage all families to participate in anyway that they can.
Please note: All checks for fundraisers should be made payable to the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
