What did you study in college?  
I earned my bachelor's degree in Communication, my master's degree in Training and Development, and my Ph.D. in Instructional Technology.
What is the best kept secret in CECS?  
It's not a secret, but our Experiential Learning opportunities really make our programs unique.  You can gain valuable professional experience through a paid co-op position, and even earn credit toward your degree. 
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?  
When I'm not at work, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family.  And I'm always entertained by my dog!

Jennifer Makas, CECS Student Success Coordinator

What did you study in college?
I earned my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor, and earned an M.S.E. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from UM-Dearborn
What is the best kept secret in CECS?
There are many opportunities for new and continuing students to volunteer and work for CECS - and possibly earn points toward the Experiential Honors Program doing so! You could volunteer at K-12 outreach events, be a peer mentor to K-12 or undergrad CECS students or work as a tutor/mentor.  There are also opportunities to work on research projects with faculty.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy new recipes, fabric crafts and woodworking.

I received my bachelor of science degree in Psychology and master's in Higher Education, both from Grand Valley State University.

CECS study abroad programs! Several students have participated in our exchange programs and they always wish they could go back and do it again. International experience is invaluable in today's global economy and it helps set students apart when applying for jobs. 
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Running, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with my family and dog.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from Eastern Michigan University. What I enjoy most about this position is helping students establish their educational goals, personal goals and aspirations so they can be successful in pursuing their college degree and future career.
