National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity

We are pleased to announce that the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) has joined the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The NCFDD is a nationally recognized, independent organization that provides online career development and mentoring resources for faculty, post-docs, and graduate students. The institutional membership was funded by a partnership between CECS and the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at UM-Ann Arbor, and makes these resources available to all UM-Dearborn faculty.

Institutional Membership provides all faculty, graduate students, and post-docs free on-demand access to NCFDD resources, including:

 

 

NCFDD’s core curriculum focuses on the development of key skills and strategies that lead to academic success. Training is available to members that establish and develop success habits which include:

  • Semester planning
  • Aligning time with priorities
  • Developing a consistent daily writing practice
  • Mastering academic time management
  • Moving from resistance to writing
  • Learning the art of saying “no”
  • Cultivating a networks of mentors, sponsors, and collaborators
  • Overcoming academic perfectionism
  • Engaging in and resolving conflict in a healthy way
  • Strategies for dealing with stress and rejection

To claim your free Institutional Membership and take full advantage of the resources, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Join NCFDD
  2. Choose University of Michigan-Dearborn from the drop-down menu
  3. Select “Activate my Membership”
  4. Complete the registration from using your “@umich.edu” email address
  5. Go to your @umich.edu email to find a confirmation/welcome email. Click “Activate Account” in the email.
