Training

Chemical Laboratory Safety Training

Training is conducted upon hire and annually thereafter for programs with regulatory requirements.  Classroom sessions will be provided as needed and are usually scheduled at the beginning of the spring and fall semesters.  Our online training is available 24/7, can be taken from any web-enabled device, and is available to all University of Michigan students, faculty and staff that have a valid UMich Login.

The links below will lead you to our online safety courses for both Comprehensive Laboratory Safety and Bloodborne Pathogens training.  Upon completion of the training modules and satisfactory scoring on the accompanied test, a certificate will be generated and emailed to you for your records.

Biosafety Training

The BSL 1 Biosafety training is for all UM laboratory personnel who work in Biological Safety Level 1 (BSL 1) laboratories.

The BSL 2 Biosafety training is required for UM Laboratory personnel who work in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL 2) laboratories. Training is renewed every three years.

Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training for research labs is required for people who may have exposure to bloodborne pathogens in research lab work.

Bloodborne Pathogen training for non-research is required for non-research employees who may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens through their job duties.
